Working closely with specialist Architects, national heritage bodies, archaeologists and conservation officers J Humphrey and Partners develop proposals that ensure key factors are identified and managed, facilitating discreet, efficient, cost effective mechanical and electrical solutions.
Project: St Mary’s Church, Hexham
Client: Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle
J Humphrey and Partners were engaged as Mechanical and Electrical Consulting Engineers for the design of Mechanical and Electrical services associated with the installation of a new heating system at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Hencotes, Hexham.
The works consisted of stripping out of the existing heating boiler and distribution system that supplies the church and the installation of 2 No. new gas fired heating boilers and associated equipment as well as new heating distribution system. This supplied a mixture of radiators and mechanical fan convectors.
Following the completion of the works the interior of the church was re-decorated with strong bold colours reminiscent of an earlier era.
Project: St. Mary’s Cathedral – Re-Ordering and Organ Replacement
Client: Diocese Of Hexham & Newcastle
The Cathedral Church of St Mary located in Newcastle upon Tyne, built between 1842 and 1844 was designed by Augustus Welby Pugin and is a grade I listed building .
The works comprised of the replacement of entire Cathedral floor and the removal of the existing organ in the South Aisle and the installation of a new organ.
J Humphrey & Partners were initially involved in reconfiguration and improvement of the M&E services to allow for a new bespoke floor to be installed.
Further design with the heating and electrical services was carried out for the installation of the new organ and choir gallery.
